Interesting article about Tokyo cafe
Reuters today has a story titled “Cafe with cross-dressing difference”. I once was able to visit the Akihabara neighborhood in Tokyo to gawk at electronics. I hadn’t heard about the maid cafes, in which the waitresses dress as French maids (or a uniquely Japanese interpretation thereof
).
Apr. 14 – Tokyo’s new cross-dressing maid cafe attracts both the young and old.
Long known as a hub for electronic and comic geeks, Tokyo’s Akihabara district is now a battleground for role-play based maid cafes. In the latest twist to popular maid cafes, Japanese men cross-dress and fill in for women to serve the patrons.
It’s apparently a good place to go en femme just to eat or hang out as well.
Here’s a link to the Reuters video.
